Lynn Okimura

The UCLA Arts camp is excited to add to its roster of faculty excellence is UCLA TFT faculty member, Assistant Professor of Interactive Animation, Lynn Okimura. As many members of the professional community she is an alumnus of the UCLA School of Theater Film and Television where she garnered multiple awards including the industry selected Spotlight Award in Animation. Before returning to UCLA to teach, Lynn’s creative work was in flash and 2D animation for mobile content and music videos and in many mediums including Disney TV Animation, and Interactive and software companies. Her passion for young people is very strong as she created and instructed an animation course and curriculum for youth through the nationally recognized STAR INC non profit organization. That curriculum has burgeoned into the staple of their after school enrichment program reaching students of all economic backgrounds. She is always working on something and her independent projects have garnered awards and have shown at film festivals throughout the world including The Hawaii International Film Festival, The San Diego Asian American Film Festival, The Los Angeles Visual Communication Film Festival, Seattle’s Bumbershoot Arts Festival, and New York’s Animation Block Party. We are excited to have Lynn Okimura carry on the excellence of our summer animation program established by Dug Ward of our Animation Workshop.
