The UCLA School of Theater Film and Television is pleased and excited to have director John Pasquin join its summer faculty in the UCLA ARTS CAMP/WORKSHOPS. A Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude BFA graduate from Beloit College and a Theater MFA from Carnegie Melon University John brings his extraordinary talent and insight to training the actor in our first two sessions of Acting for Movies and TV. John has the coveted Obie Award for Outstanding Direction for the off Broadway production of Michael Weller’s MOONCHILDREN. His New York work is extensive having directed for the New York Shakespeare Festival, COMEDY OF ERRORS with Linda Lavin, Danny Divito, and Ted Danson , MEASURE FOR MEASURE with Meryl Streep, Sam Waterson and John Cazale as well as LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY with Shirley Knight and F Murray Abraham for the New York Public Theater. John is an actor’s director proved by the Obie Awards that June Gable and Santo Loquasto received for COMEDY OF ERRORS; Christopher Walken received for Pasquins production of KID CHAMPION, and Richard Bauer for LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY. He has extensive regional theater experience doing such productions as CAROUSEL; SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY (with Phillip Charles Mackenzie) CAGES (with Shelly Winters) THE CARETAKER and countless other plays at places like the Berkshire Theater, the Longwharf Theater, the Arena Stage and the Center Stage. Besides directing many of the actors listed above we can also include Linda Lavin, Jobeth Williams, Diane Wiest, Samuel Jackson, Gina Davis, Alfre Woodard, John Laroquette and Dan Aykroid just to name a few. His film credits include THE SANTA CLAUSE (People’s Choice Award), JUNGLE TO JUNGLE, JOE SOMEBODY, MISS CONGENIALITY 2 and countless television shows including the pilot episodes for GROWING PAINS, and HOME IMPROVEMENT. The entire second season of ROSEANNE saw John as its director and the first year and a half of HOME IMPROVEMENT presented John with two Emmy Nominations for outstanding director. Always asked to be the guy to direct pilots of new television shows which set the pace and style of the shows, John has done many other episodic television shows including THE NEWHART SHOW, GEORGE LOPEZ, PAYNE, FAMILTY TIES, ALICE, THIRTY SOMETHING, and L.A. LAW for which he received another Emmy Nomination. UCLA Arts Camp Workshops welcomes John Pasquin to its faculty for the summer of 2012.
