Welcome from the Dean

Dean Teri Schwartz

As the Dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television I want to invite you to join our UCLA summer workshop family as we embark on a new chapter for our school. The vision of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television is to serve as a premier interdisciplinary global professional school that develops outstanding humanistic storytellers, industry leaders and scholars whose diverse, innovative voices enlighten, engage and inspire change for a better world.

To that end the UCLA Arts Camp/Workshops for 2013 is once again offering the finest training in the performing and digital arts for the next generation of talented young artists. This School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) summer pre-college program is taught by our own illustrious faculty and professionals from the entertainment community. Each workshop immerses the student throughout the day in their art, while at the same time giving the student the experience of living and being on the UCLA campus. We consistently strive to find ways to enhance our offerings by bringing new and exciting workshops to the summer and by adding new faculty to our program. One only needs to visit our web site to see demonstrated proof. Now in our 12TH  season, students participate in one or more workshops creating their own summer of creativity, learning and fun. And we continue to offer UCLA college credit for all participants, which adds another dimension to professional education in the arts.

The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT) has an international reputation for offering the finest in professional training to its students; and the UCLA Arts Camp/Workshops, in association with US Performing Arts, maintains that tradition. The quality of our summer workshop program is enhanced by the exceptional relationships that TFT has developed with the international and local entertainment industries. All offerings are taught by members of the UCLA faculty who are also working professionals in their respective fields.

The success of the summer workshops enables the School to reach out beyond the boundaries of the University to the broader community; it is consistent with our mission of educating the next generation of artists in the performing and media arts; and for the administrators and faculty of the workshops, it is a gratifying experience to have such an exchange with so many dynamic young people from around the world.
Through our signature Arts Camp/Workshops you will play an important part in this exciting chapter in the life of TFT.

We are looking forward to seeing you this summer.

Sincerely,

Dean Teri Schwartz
