The Screenwriters Showcase celebrates the UCLA Screenwriting program with both a contest and an awards ceremony. During the ceremony the Showcase will honor a member of the industry with a Distinguished Achievement in Screenwriting Award and award the winners of its contest. This year, Showcase will award five MFA feature winners, five MFA television pilot winners and one Undergraduate winner and excerpts of the winning scripts will be shared. Scripts submitted for Screenwriters Showcase must have been written in a UCLA screenwriting class and will have been judged by an industry-wide group of professional agents, managers, and production companies. Student screenwriter volunteers produce all aspects of the Showcase contest including judge recruitment, script distribution and feedback collection and then work with festival representatives to plan the Showcase event. The UCLA Screenwriters Showcase reflects writers’ dedication to and appreciation of good storytelling through screenwriting.
