Animation Prom, Program 2

James Bridges Theater

Jun 8, 2013 @ 6:30 PM

RSVP

The Festival of Animation, affectionately known as “Prom,” has been a tradition since 1959. The UCLA Animation Workshop promotes a "one person, one film" philosophy, allowing the animators to realize their concepts independently. The works screened at Prom represent a diverse swath of animation mediums, styles, techniques, and ultimately the lives and backgrounds of students in the program.

This year Prom will be divided into three different programs to better showcase the work of all of our students. The last program of the evening will include a ceremony for the peer-chosen student awards and bestow the “Crystal Anvil” on an industry honoree who has strong ties to the UCLA Animation Workshop and has had professional success. The evening will end with a student-hosted reception on Soundstage 2.

Recent graduates of the program include Mark Nelson, recipient of the 2012 Student Academy Award in animation for his film Jockstrap Raiders, and Eliza Kinkz, who was a finalist at the 2012 Student Academy Awards for her film Chocolate Milk. Alumni of the program include directors Shane Acker (9) and Gil Kenan (Monster House) as well as numerous other professionals who fill the ranks of companies like Pixar, Dreamworks, and Titmouse, and those who pursue independent work.

Join us in celebrating UCLA’s talented animation community!

Please return May 12th to see filmmakers for each program. In order to accommodate all of our guests, RSVP for just the program(s) you plan to attend.
