Nico Garcia is a San Antonio native of Tejano origin. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin, he spent two years working and independently researching Chicanx cinema. His current research revolves around constructions of time and space in relation to the body by Chicanx artists, particularly in the last 10 years. Future plans include founding a cooperatively owned production company, teaching university-level film studies, and curating exhibitions of new media art. Garcia is currently working on two visual essays; one about a queer Chicana mural in the Netflix show Gentefied, and another about the art & craft aesthetics in multi-media artist and rapper Tierra Whack’s music videos.
