Edit Villarreal is a playwright and screenwriter. Original plays have been produced at Yale Repertory Theatre, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre in Seattle. They include My Visits with MGM (My Grandmother Marta), published in Shattering the Myth: Plays by Hispanic Women; The Language of Flowers, a contemporary adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and the comedy Marriage Is Forever. Television credits include the American Playhouse film production of La Carpa and PBS' critically acclaimed Foto-Novelas series, which aired Broken Sky in October 2003.
