Roberto Gudiño MFA '12 has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship Grant to develop and establish an outreach and training program for "at-risk" youth in Mexico City who show an interest in film-making. Sponsored by the U.S. State Department and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, this project will take place over the course of several months during which several shorts will be written and shot in collaboration between students from Mexico and UCLA.

“Roberto’s proposed project in Mexico is well planned, feasible and extremely interesting," said “El Béisbol” Director A.P. Gonzalez. "His work brings hope to U.S. / Mexico relations, representing a brighter future for a better understanding between two great nations.”

This year's US Student Fulbright Program in the Americas is one of the most highly competitive in the world. Fulbright Alumni have garnered over 40 Nobel Prizes, becoming heads of state, ambassadors, CEO's, and university presidents as well as artists in fulfilling the Fulbright mission of increasing intercultural understanding since the program's inception more than 60 years ago.

Roberto has won numerous awards including the prestigious Directors Guild of America Jury Prize and an Imagen Award nomination. Additionally, he has photographed various films, documentaries, and commercials.
