Making a Difference There isn't a segment of society unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic in one way or another. For college students, many of whom struggled financially even before COVID-19, it has put a spectacular burden on them. With this in mind, the TFT Executive Board created the Student Wellness Fund, which has been providing financial relief for students in need, with the help of generous donors, since the early days of the pandemic. In Other News Benjamin Arfmann (MFA ’13) and the writing team on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales were nominated for a Narrative BAFTA Games Award. Heather Arnson (BA ’05) was the director of the Writers Guild of America Awards ceremony in March. Garrett Bradley (BA ’10) was a PGA Awards nominee in the category of Outstanding Producer of Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures for her film Time. Professor Kristy Guevara-Flanagan's award-winning documentary Águilas was recently featured in The New Yorker. Kate Hackett (MFA ’09) won an ACE Eddie Award for her work on the Netflix documentary Cheer in the category of Best Edited Non-Scripted Series. Lecturer Jonathan Kuntz lent his expertise to another Movies Insider video about spotting on-screen villains. He was previously featured in videos about the Wilhelm Scream and Morley Cigarettes. Following the Academy Awards on April 25, Professor Sean Metzger discussed Minari and diversity in Hollywood with South Korean news program Arirang Global Insight. Alan Muraoka (BA ’85) was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in the category of Outstanding Directing in a Television Movie or Special for directing The Power of We: A Sesame Street Special. Esther Shubinski (MFA ’12) edited the documentary Petit Rat, which recently premiered at the Miami Jewish Film Festival.
