Alexandra James Salichs’ research includes Latinx and Latin American representation and film history with a particular focus on Puerto Rico. Her master’s thesis focused on the contextualization of Puerto Rico’s Division of Community Education’s (DIVEDCO) film department and documenting the presence of American colonialism within that department. She has presented at past conferences such as Visible Evidence, Northeast Modern Language Association and the Midwest Popular Culture Association. She previously received awards which include the Roland Wood Fellowship, the Amherst Memorial Fellowship and the Columbia University School of the Arts Dean’s Travel Grant. She previously worked at the Tribeca Film Festival and Hamptons International Film Festival.
