Four UCLA TFT alumni woke up today to discover that they are headed to the Oscars after the early-morning announcement of the 93rd Academy Awards nominations. Eric Roth, one of the producers of Best Picture nominee Mank, received his sixth Oscar nomination. Garrett Bradley, director of documentary feature Time, Marcela Santibáñez, producer of documentary feature The Mole Agent and Erick Oh, director of the animated short film Opera are first-time nominees.

Additionally, Love and Monsters, edited by Professor Nancy Richardson, is nominated for Best Visual Effects, and Over the Moon, written by Audrey Wells (MFA ’89), is nominated as Best Animated Feature Film. Wells passed away in 2018.

The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony takes place Sunday, April 25, 2021, live on ABC.
